Practicing Focus
One of my husband's favorite quotes these days is life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to what happens to you. There is some truth to that. Life is all about choices. Contrary to popular belief we all have choices in life. Every choice whether bad or good has consequences. Because I have this knowledge coupled with trust that God is in control leading and guiding me towards His will, I no longer blame others or outside forces for what happens to me. I have learned to take responsibility for my actions, and when I learn better, I make a conscious decision and effort to do better. Some processes take longer than others, but with practice my performance rate increases. I've also learned that in trusting God I can do all things, but fail. What may look like a set back is really a set up that ushers me closer to my destiny in Christ. All things work together for my good and everything happens for a reason. Not some things all things. Not some things, everything including the good, bad, ugly, and what seems like just plain wrong. Why? Because I trust God and I know that I know that in Him I have an expected end of peace and prosperity. I know that I know that if God be for me, I hate it for the man or principality that is against me when I abide in His will. I wrote a song called Moving Forward months ago, but it's just now starting to play out in my life. It's my heart song this season. The rhyme plays in my mind to the beat drum of my heart every time I get tempted to revert back to the old way of thinking and doing things. The children of Israel had the same problem. Every time things got hard or uncomfortable, they romanticized their experience in Egypt, desiring to go back. Lot's wife turned into a pillar of salt when she looked back. They looked back because of comfortability, they were conditioned to handle the stresses and bondage of life in Egypt. Lot's wife was conditioned to deal with the sin and perversions that were in Sodom and Gomorrah. It was familiar and comfortable because they had practice in those conditions.Yet in the midst of everything there were always a select few that managed to keep their eyes on God, keeping their hearts, minds, and actions focused on His commands like Joshua. Practicing and perfecting following the new move of God forward to prosperity, provision, and security. Joshua fought long and hard, but in the end he prevailed. He lost a battle, but he didn't lose the fight. In the end he obtained the victory and inherited the promise. We are moving forward with focus: There's no turning back. Failure is not an option. Practicing choosing God's direction is a necessity.
